This is a photo of me in front of the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. where I hope to maybe work someday. I am unsure of what I want to do exactly but I am planning on majoring in political science.

This is an image of me this past spring break at Mirror Lake in Yosemite. It shows my reflection, one within the clouds, and the other in the trees and water. My mind is literally and figuratively in the clouds- I’m a dreamer and a wanderer. I don’t think conventionally, but my uniqueness is something that I have come to love within myself. On the other side, I am rooted in nature. I have a love of exploration, especially within beautiful natural environments. This image is a culmination of my own journey, combining all sides of myself.

I snapped this photo while halfway up Grays Peak in Colorado. After hiking for hours, I was amazed to look back and see how far I had traveled (My dad, brother, and I had started our hike in the forest nestled behind the mountain in the photograph) as well as how far I still had to go. I honestly don’t know if the photo represents me, but it reminds me of my family and the hikes we would take together; this one being the most challenging.

This photo of an otter represents me because, despite the tumult of this otter’s life (waves, constantly changing scenery, it has managed to find peace enough to sleep. This is something I am trying desperately to achieve; peace in the face of challenges and changes.

I chose this Surrealist photo, playfully, to represent me. I like the fact that it is a montage of a few photos, rearranged into something paradoxical and unique and then re-photographed and presented as one photo. It is hard for me to think about something that represents “me”, because I feel that “me” is always changing and growing and piecing together different aspects of the world and myself, and this photo reflects that sentiment (and my gratitude for such things)

This is a photo of my sisters and myself from my childhood. We are at our long time favorite vacation spot on San Juan Island, where we have spent each of the the last 15 Fourth of July’s together as a family. This photo is special to me because my family is one of the most important things in my life and some of my favorite memories with my family are from San Juan Island.

I took this photo while bringing school supplies and toys to a school in a small village in the highlands of Vietnam. I chose it to represent me because it reminds me of some of my favorite memories and has a very innocent and whimsical feel to it. Working abroad (especially with kids) is something that I have been passionate my entire life and hope to pursue a career that involves those aspects.

This is a photo of a bonfire I had on First Beach in La Push, WA with my closest friends a few months ago. I feel like this photo represents me in that it reminds me of an adventure I went on with people I love, and that is currently my largest goal in life (aside from finishing school). I am constantly reminding myself to go out and experience things I love, this photo was one of those experiences.

This is a picture I took of my mom Resi and my sister Samantha at the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein. My sister is calling us on as she runs up to the main floor of the gallery. There’s some kind of metaphor about my family in this, I’m just not sure what it is. Our little family unit defines me as much as anything.

This photo is of my sister and me. It was taken over a summer trip when I was very young. It represents me because not only does it show the close bond of my family but also it shows the excitement of a little girl, that at heart I still am.
