Our 2015 Schedule

August 24-27: Intensive Seminar in Seattle, including a walking tour of South Lake Union led by Program Co-Director Keith Harris.

September 1: Trip to Ellis and Liberty Islands, with a special focus on the journeys that immigrants undertook in order to get to the United States, and their hopes and dreams for their lives here.

September 2: Visit to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, including a “Then & Now” walking tour of the neighborhood.

September 4: Meeting with representatives from the Center for Urban Pedagogy to learn about their Densification curriculum

September 7: Walking tour of the High Line and Chelsea, uncovering layers of history and change

September 8: Meeting with an archivist at the New York Historical Society to learn about their research collection

September 10: Visit to the J. Max Bond Center at the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York to learn about their Just City initiative

September 11: Walking tour of the Brooklyn neighborhood of Greenpoint to learn about the sweeping changes it is currently undergoing and the local activism that is trying to direct these changes

September 16-17: Student presentations
